This fuze is the modified version of Fuze 161 MK 3 M-1. This fuze is assembled with Mortar Bombs 51 mm HE. This is a direct action percussion fuze which requires a head on impact for functioning.
On impact, the striker pierces the detonator which initiates the CE pellet in the magazine which in turn initiates the bursting charge in the projectile. |

| Performance Characteristics |
| On firing the Ammunition set back force is generated which causes arming of the fuze. |

| Aerodynamic shape has been given to the fuze body to achieve longer range. Also the body of the Fuze is made of aluminum alloys to make it light weight. |

| Strict Quality measures are adopted during various stages of production like radiography at empty & filled stage, Arming test etc so as to give desired end results. Functional proof is carried out in association with the Services Quality Assurance Organization. |

| 3 level of safety is provided to avoid any undesired functioning of the fuze. |

| Dur to sound design and careful manufacture, the ammunition is very reliable for the use in battle. |
