Shell 105 mm IFG ILLG. belongs to the family of ILLG. Ammunition used extensively to support night warfare. It provides intense illumination for identification and engagement of all types of stationary and moving objects.
The ILLG. Shell is fired alongwith cartg. from Indian Field Gun. It can achieve range upto 17 Kms. The variable ranges are achieved by addition of charges. The shell is fired with time mechanical fuze, present to ensure ejection at the desired height and range. The illuminant canister supported with parachute and spin break system provides intense illumination on the ground covering an area of 600 mtrs. Radius.

Packing consists of an inner package and an outer package. Two inner packages are of laminated paper container with metallic end caps. Two such containered shells are put in the steel box, which is fit for airdrop and is sea worthy. Gross weight of each box containing 2 bombs is 52 kgs.
