This is an anti-air ammunition. Complete round consists of case cartridge, cap (Detonating Fuze NR-3), propellant charge, HEI projectile (Shell) with tracer and Fuze MG 25 like other type of Artillery ammunition. Details of the components are as follows :
The case cartridge, made of steel, is rimless but belted type, the length of cartridge case is approx 151.8 mm. It has got a pocket at the base to house a cap (Primer). This pocket is connected to the interior of the case by only one central fire hole. Case is having a base dia of 33.29 mm and flange of width 3 mm followed by extractor groove of width 5 mm. After extractor groove, case is slightly tapered to form a shoulder after which the taper is sharply increased to form a neck with parallel walls. The shell is fixed to the cartridge case by indenting and coning.

The propellant charge used is single base heptatubular graphited propellant having a mass of 78 gms (approx).
Shell comprises of body, driving band, tracer, bursting charge and fuze. Shell body is screw threaded internally at the mouth to take a fuze and is recessed to accommodate bursting charge. Shell body accommodates tracer also at the bottom.
Bursting charge consists of a Pellet containing RDX/WAX. Body is recessed at the base to accommodate tracer composition having a mass of 2.62 gms (approx.)

The ammunition design has incorporated latest version of Fuze MG 25. The fuze is designed to explode the shell at the target and cause self destruction of the shell in case it misses the target.
The raw materials used for components are tested by independent Quality Assurance Wing. Major components are test fired and passed proof components are taken into final assembly of ammunition. The complete round is proved for :
a) Muzzle Velocity
b) Pressure and
c) Cartridge assembly
The round is assembled with the Fuze MG 25 in which multiple safety arrangements have been provided to ensure total safety during handling and transportation. The fuze has also got a self destruction device in case it misses the target.
Due to its sound design and manufacture, the ammunition is very reliable for use.
The shelf life of the ammunition is 5 years.
The rounds are packed in steel Box H2A/L with packing fitments. 25 cartridges are packed in one box. The rows are separated by paper waxed. 4 such boxes are packed in each carrier 6A/L.
